Sustainable Events at The Longevity District: Frequently Asked Questions

At Miami Ironside — The Longevity District — we’re committed to hosting events that respect the planet and foster long-term wellbeing. This FAQ is designed to help you align your event with our sustainability values.

General Sustainability Commitment

  • We aim to be a leader in adaptive reuse and ecological innovation. Through circular economy principles, green architecture, and pollinator corridors, we support events that contribute to both social and environmental longevity.

  • Yes! We encourage all clients to integrate sustainable practices. We’ll work with you to reduce waste, source responsibly, and highlight your efforts in our communications.

Unique to Ironside

  • Yes — The Longevity District at Miami Ironside is a fully adaptive reuse property. This means we have transformed existing industrial and architectural structures into dynamic, functional spaces for art, culture, community, and events. Adaptive reuse reduces environmental impact, preserves the area's authentic character, and embodies our commitment to sustainability and longevity.

  • We practice the Miyawaki method of gardening, a technique that restores natural biodiversity by planting dense, native forests that grow quickly and require no maintenance after a few years. These mini-forests support pollinators, clean the air, and help create a thriving ecosystem right here on our grounds.

  • It’s a landscape strategy that supports bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. We encourage event planners to incorporate pollinator-friendly themes or activations.

  • Definitely. Ironside is home to artists and makers. We welcome partnerships that connect sustainability, art, and social good.

Materials and Waste

Catering and Food Waste

  • Yes — we provide a list of local, organic, PFAS Free, Seed Oil free and plant-forward caterers. Food waste can be minimized through smart planning and donation to local charities when possible.

  • Yes, composting is available upon request. Please let us know during planning so we can coordinate logistics.

Design and Décor

  • Yes — we recommend locally sourced, seasonal florals or potted plants that can be reused or gifted. We ask clients to avoid floral foam, glitter, or synthetic materials.

We also welcome all real plants left over from your event. These will be planted on our property, directly contributing to the environment and supporting the natural landscape of The Longevity District.

  • Yes, and we love creative designs! We just recommend that all materials be reusable, recyclable, or repurposed after the event.

Circular Economy

  • Yes — Ironside is proud to be the Miami headquarters for the Circular Economy Club (CEC), a global network of professionals, organizations, and innovators working toward a more regenerative future.

  • Absolutely. We love collaborating with clients who align with our sustainability goals. Whether it's sourcing second-hand furniture, reusing signage, or donating leftover materials and food, we’ll help you integrate circular thinking into your planning and execution.
