SALON TALK: EUGENI QUITLLET, MODERATED BY AL EIBER

The Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet will give the lowdown on his equally dynamic feats, with two new enchanting seats for Kartell, a new collection of office items for Lexon and further collections launched with Alias and VONDOM. His brand new tubular chair for the Spanish brand Mobles 114 will also be unveiled for the very first time. If you have not yet been enthused by this “Disoñador,” designer/dreamer in Spanish, do not miss his outstanding work, a reflection of his personality. Designer Eugeni Quitllet has a unique way of casting an eye on the world of objects and space, enabling us to see it in a new light.
Al Eiber has been collecting postwar design (with an emphasis on Italian design) for the past 25 years. Al is a respected expert on the topic and has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Modern Magazine. He is a trustee of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and has served on the vetting committee for Design Miami and Design Miami/Basel (Switzerland) for the past five years. In addition, he frequently lectures and participates in panel discussions on design.

To close out the week, Ironside’s showrooms and studios open their doors for a final night celebrating art, design and creativity on the the Upper Eastside. Guests are invited to experience the campus all lit up and a chance to see and discover everything our creative district has to offer. The evening will also include jazz music, specialty cocktails by Villa Azur's new restaurant Brasserie Azur, and a featured talk and public performance with French design duo Mel & Kio.

French Design Duo MEL & KIO, poetic wall artist, join us for an exciting talk and public performance during our Campus Collective party. Noted forerunners of wall design, the duo will create a graphic, poetic patterns to leave as a permanent installation as part of the new Ironside Coworking space.

The Florida International University’s College of Architecture + The Arts presents Innovation and Integration in Digital Fabrication, an exhibition of new directions in the work of FIU students, faculty members, and fellows that explores the many forms of digital production. Dedicated to helping its students and faculty innovate, inspire, and ultimately create engaged solutions to regional and global problems, the College presents visitors with Miami-based faculty and student designed stools and tables,
integrated art/furniture pieces, and much more.
This installation will be curated by John Stuart, FIU CARTA's Associate Dean of Engagement and Cultural Affairs.

In celebration of of MAISON&OBJET Americas visit their studio here on the main piazza and experience their lens tinting workshop, where you'll get unique insight on how PLAYN Sun Lenses are created and even try out tinting your own shades or try on the new 2015 Collection.

Onecollection was founded in 1990 by Ivan Hansen and Henrik Sørensen. Onecollection manufactures design furniture of a very high quality. In 2000, Onecollection acquired the exclusive rights to produce Finn Juhl’s iconic furniture from the 1940’s and 50’s. Since then, the company has re-launched a comprehensive range of Juhl’s designs. In 2013, Onecollection manufactured all new furniture for the Finn Juhl Chamber at the UN Headquarters in New York. Today, Onecollection is present in more than 30 markets.

Gallery ART LEXÏNG debuts the first US solo exhibition of the prolific Parisian street poet, Fred le Chevalier, whose endearing and elegant collages have ushered in an iconic wave of Neo-Street Art. The exhibition will focus on a selection le Chevalier’s poetic illustrations, which have garnered an explosive reputation among the streets of Paris and galleries abound.

After a successful showing during Art Basel, St. Topez Meets Miami comes to Ironside. The exhibition features 26 large-scale contemporary works on canvas by renowned artist and sculptor Stephan Szczesny. Follow the piazza south and find his shadow sculptures on view.
